WELCOME TO APPLE CLASS

Apple is a very happy class of 13 EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) learners whose learning activities are delivered through a multi-sensory approach. Our EYFS curriculum is shaped by seven important and inter-connected areas of learning. The seven areas of learning are split up into three prime areas (Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development) and four specific areas (Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design). The children engage in rich learning opportunities across all seven areas, with the 3 Prime areas underpinning all learning.

The children’s learning is supported through a variety of creative, sensory, stimulating experiences including Attention Autism, sensory stories and Intensive Interaction. Our timetable is enriched further through Forest School sessions. To promote and support the children’s communication skills, we adopt a total communication approach in the classroom.

The Apple team are Andrea, Philippa (Th PM), Julie, Jamie, Michelle, Holly and Dawn.

This term our learners are looking forward to exploring the themes 'Favourite Stories' and 'Nursery Rhymes' through engaging learning activities which offer opportunities to practice and develop the children's play and independent exploration. Adults will ‘scaffold’ the pupils' learning by offering guidance and encouragement, therefore enabling the children to develop and master new skills .

RHINO READING IN APPLE CLASS

As part of our exciting reading scheme – we will be diving into ‘Rhino Reading’ from Twinkl. To access our online reading task, you will need to follow the link: https://www.twinkl.co.uk/go/sign-in. You will be taken to a child login page where you will need to type in a code.

Our class code for “I Like To...” is AM3746

Please interact with the story and share your thoughts! We would love to hear if online reading and tasks are successful at home!

Reading in Apple class involves practising early reading skills through sharing and enjoying stories and books together. This promotes the children’s imagination, their curiosity for the world they live in, supports their communication skills and is great fun! Amongst our stories this term are Supertato by Paul Linnet and Good Night, Sleep Tight by Mem Fox.

We are sure that these stories will inspire a wealth of sensory experiences, role play, creative mark making and artwork. Further, the children will have opportunities to apply and practise their early reading skills through all areas of the curriculum.

In addition, we have sessions planned for the

  • Darkroom on Thursday mornings
  • Lightroom on Wednesday mornings
  • Forest Schools on Tuesday afternoons
  • Magic Carpet/Immersive Room on Monday mornings
  • Learning Kitchen on Thursday mornings
  • Swimming on Tuesday mornings

Please see our class timetable for more information.

In Apple Class, we enjoy capturing evidence of our learning through Evisense. Please check your child’s page to see what we have been doing!
