Academy Uniform

Uniform at The Russett School is optional. Our academy uniform policy, is based on the notion that a uniform promotes a sense of pride in our academy, it looks smart, is practical and makes our pupils feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance. Wearing a uniform also encourages identity and creates a predictable daily routine which is vital for our pupils. It can also act as a reference point and allows them to distinguish between school days and home days.

Our academy uniform consists of:

  • Sweatshirt or cardigan
  • Polo shirt
  • Dark trousers, shorts or skirt
  • Sturdy, closed toe shoes
  • Waterproof coat

Our uniform can be viewed and purchased online, from School Trends. Please follow the link to place an order: https://www.schooltrends.co.uk

Uniform for Physical Education (PE)

We encourage pupils to bring a change of clothes for their weekly PE lessons. We use PE as an additional opportunity to practice independence and self-help skills through the process of getting changed before and after sessions.

PE kits should include:

  • A plain t-shirt
  • Pair of shorts or light jogging bottoms
  • Black Plimsolls or trainers

Forest Schools

Pupils across the academy take part in Forest School as well as daily outdoor learning activities. To ensure full participation in these we ask that pupils have:

  • A warm, water-proof coat
  • Waterproof trousers
  • A pair of wellies
  • Additional layers in winter as well as a hat and pair of gloves
  • A sun hat during the summer months
