Key Stages 3 & 4
Welcome to Key Stage 3 and 4!
Along with Post 16, Key Stages 3 and 4 make up the Upper School department of the academy. Following on from Key Stage 2 the expectations placed on individual pupils within these key stages become more demanding, including an emphasis on developing their independence and responsibility, as part of the preparation for further education and adulthood.
Key Stage 3
This key stage is composed of Year 7 Year 8 and Year 9. Pupils within this key stage continue their curriculum pathway journey and undertake the full range of National Curriculum subjects. Pupils begin to undertake careers education within this key stage and are encouraged to undertake a range of enrichment opportunities.
For further information about Key Stage 3 please see our KS3 Subject Provision Overview and KS3 & 4 Curriculum Manual.
Key Stage 4
This key stage is composed of Year 10 and 11. Pupils begin accredited courses at this stage which boost learning opportunities and raise achievements in a caring ethos which nurtures positive relationships and fosters the growth of responsible behaviour. As pupils leave Key Stage 4 and move towards Post 16 provision it is important that they are prepared for further accredited learning and are aware of their needs and interests so that they are able to pursue learning that will benefit and help them in their future lives.
For further information about Key Stage 4 please see our KS4 Subject Provision Overview and KS3 & 4 Curriculum Manual.
