Welcome to Room 10
Our staff team consists of Stef, Sandra and James (all work Monday – Friday), Mel (Monday – Thursday) and Chris (Wednesday to Friday).
The pupils in Room 10 are focussing on building their independence, communication and functional skills to prepare them for adulthood and for their futures beyond the Russett and life within the wider community. All pupils will undertake coursework accredited by ASDAN relevant to their abilities.
This term our Coastal Learners are looking forward to accessing an exciting and sensory curriculum tailored to suit their needs. A range of topics will be covered including My Communication, My Problem and Thinking skills and My Play and Leisure. Our Countryside learners will access a blended approach to their learning following a thematic approach alongside subject specific learning. Pupils accessing our City pathway will access formal subject specific learning adapted to suit the needs of the group.
Reading in Room 10 takes place daily – this ranges from sensory stories, story boxes, phonics and See and Learn. Reading is supported through the use of symbols and multi-sensory approaches. We promote a love of reading and embed it throughout our curriculum and applying it to real life situations such as reading recipes and timetables.
In addition, we have several exciting activities planned across the term, including:
- Light room and Dark room sessions
- Forest Schools sessions on alternate Thursdays
- Yoga with Will, our new Yoga instructor
- Extracurricular activities including swimming, Living Eggs and Bikeability
- Educational visits
Please see our class timetable for more information.
In Room 10, we will be capturing evidence of our learning through Evisense. Please check your child’s page to see what we have been doing!
